Hot news today is that Adam McKay has found the cast for his yet-to-be-titled biopic about Dick Cheney. Christian Bale has been cast as the title character, with Steve Carell to play Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams as Cheney’s wife Lynne. Bale and Carell have previously worked with McKay in “The Big Short”.
The Paramount Pictures film has been pencilled in for release late 2018, with filming to begin in September. As previously reported, director Adam McKay expressed a fascination with vice-president Cheney, who is considered the most powerful vice president in American history. Cheney has had a huge influence on American politics, and will no doubt provide a good subject for a movie filled with power, deceit, controversy, global terrorism, and contradictions against the norm in key issues such as gay marriage.
