Tom Hardy is set to become an anti-hero in the form of Spider-Man’s nemesis “Venom” in a Marvel feature film.
According to Deadline, Sony have announced the release date for the film as October 5, 2018 with filming to begin this fall. Director Ruben Fleischer will be at the helm of the film.
Despite its tie ins with Spider-Man, the movie won’t be a spinoff, but rather the first movie after Spider-Man. In the comics, Venom (aka Eddie Brock) appears alongside quite a few notable Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Deadpool and Hulk (and of course Spidey), so no doubt we’re all keen to get more details on who will appear in the film.
We saw Tom Hardy in “Mad Max: Fury Road” and the actor was also nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role in “The Revanent” in which he starred alongside Leo DiCaprio.
Producers for the “Venom” feature film are Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal, and it will be written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
