The full first trailer for “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is imminent, and to lead up to its release, Sony Pictures have given us a little taste of what’s to come ahead of Thursday’s trailer.
So actually, the “taste” is a little weak, literally just announcing that the trailer will be released on Thursday, but other clever people have added the previously released set video featuring stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black so we get something else to get the hype going. The Jake Kasden-directed film was originally set for July, but has since been reshuffled and we’ll now see it in cinemas in December.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is a sequel to 1995’s “Jumanji” starring Robin Williams, in which some kids release an adult who has been trapped in a board game, along with the dangers that lie within the game. To be honest, the original movie scared the crap out of me (keep in mind I was only 8 when it was released), so hopefully the sequel will have some more comedy, given its cast. For the kids’ sake, of course…
In a brand new Jumanji adventure, the tables are turned as four teenagers are sucked into Jumanji’s world – pitted against rhinos, black mambas and an endless variety of jungle traps and puzzles. To survive, they’ll play as characters from the game: meek Spencer becomes a stupid and girl-crazy jock (Dwayne Johnson); football jock Fridge becomes a tiny Einstein (Kevin Hart); It-girl Bethany becomes a bookworm professor (Jack Black); and unathletic Martha becomes an amazonian warrior (Karen Gillan). To beat the game and return to the Planet Earth with their lives, they’ll have to start seeing things in an entirely different way.
Check out “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” on December 22. Side note, if the Guns n Roses song isn’t in this movie, I’ll be thoroughly disappointed.
