Has Gillian Anderson quit X-Files!? The Truth Is In Here…

Ha! No!

Well, she has left it behind – but it’s not new news.

The flaxen-haired superstar, who has played Dana Scully for Fox going on a quarter of a century now, announced via Twitter a couple of weeks ago that this season of  “The X-Files” will be her last. Since the post, the talented Ms A has reminded fans and media that she only intended to reprise Scully for one season [of the revival] – fact that she’s done two is a bonus. A gift to the fans. So, no, not a bombshell that everyone’s favorite small-screen agent won’t be returning after season 11.

Sure, there’s a chance Anderson will return later on – especially if the price is right – but for now, Scully has hung up her scrubs.
In fact, a couple of months ago co-star David Duchovny told press that he too “assumed” this season would be his/their last.

Will the show go on without them, possibly having new recruits Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose run things from hereon out? Or will Fox retire the brand?

The new (the last?) season of “The X-Files” airs Jan. 3 at 8/7c.
