“Fast and Furious” spin-off “Hobbs and Shaw” with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham has announced its director, with David Leitch (director of “Deadpool 2”) taking on the duties.
The film is based on Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Statham’s Deckard Shaw, and is slated for release in July 2019. “Fast and Furious 9” has a release of 2020, and “Fast and Furious 10” in 2021.
Johnson recently stated that he was unsure if he’d appear in the 9th instalment in lieu of the spin-off, so that remains to be seen at this stage.
The director announcement was made for “Hobbs and Shaw” on Twitter (see below). Production is expected to begin towards the end of the year.
