A new hope for Obi-Wan movie

One of the worst kept secrets in moviedom has ostensibly been solidified with trade putty.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, plans are definitely afoot for “Star Wars”‘ Obi-Wan Kenobi to get his own solo jaunt.

Stephen Daldry (“The Hours”) is in early talks to direct the film, which will likely fix on the master Jedi’s years in exile after the poopy prequels.

In recent times it’s been rumoured that Ewan McGregor, who played the character in George Lucas’s prequel series, will reprise the character. Adding fuel to that fire, McGregor recently lent his lungs to JJ Abrams’ “The Force Awakens”, voicing Obi-Wan in a pivotal flashback sequence.

It’s still very early days for the project, with no script or writer even appointed, but Daldry’s rumoured involvement suggests this might be one of the next “Star Wars” standalone films to go.
