Active talks to bring X-Files back

Seems pretty likely we’ll see another season of “The X-Files” on Fox next year.

The network announced at the TCA’s this week that conversations have kicked off to see Mulder and Scully pick up a flashlight – or two – again in the New Year.

“We’d love to do another season,” said Fox’s David Madden, via The Hollywood Reporter. “There are active talks with all three principals. We’re working hard, and we’d love to get another season out soon.”

Unlike the six episodes that aired this year, the next batch of episodes won’t have to concentrate so heavily on catching audiences up on what had happened to the characters since we last saw them.

“The show was off the air for a long time,” said the net’s Dana Walden. “There was a lot of time to cover in these six episodes. And they had the challenge of filling in the mythology. Going forward, there won’t be as much catching up.”

Chris Carter would again be leading the charge on the next season.

“If we have the opportunity to do more episodes, we’ll take cues from Chris’ team”, says Madden.

The “X-Files” returned to screens this year, after a lengthy absense, with David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi all reprising their roles from the long-running television and film franchise.
