Adam Driver up for main Star Wars : Episode VII baddie

What’s this? some official “Star Wars : Episode VII” casting news!? Say it isn’t so!?

According to Variety, “Girls” alum Adam Driver may end up being the first official, officialised, officially-on-board officially-in cast-member on Lucasfilm’s “Return of the Jedi” sequel.
The up-and-coming actor, who seems to have landed on Hollywood’s radar very quickly and with rapid succession, is said to be in talks to play the villain in the new film. Yep, Driver would go all Darth.

Seems Driver would be up for the role that Hugo Weaving and Michael Fassbender had been rumoured for; if memory serves me right, they were linked to the role of some sort of evil military figure – sort of like a ‘Grand Moff Tarkin on Steroids’.

The J.J Abrams directed “Episode VII” is due to begin it’s shoot in London in April, so it’s expected we’ll hear official casting announcements in the coming weeks. Expect those announcements to include the likes of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Billy Dee Williams; if the persistent rumours are anything to go by, there’s also a fair chance we’ll hear that Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary OIdman are playing roles.

Aside from “Girls”, Driver has appeared in such films as “Inside Llweyn Davis”, “Frances Ha” and “Lincoln”; he next appears in “Tracks” opposite Mia Wasikowska.
