Ryan Kwanten, best known for his roles on Home & Away True Blood and House, has been cast in Crackle’s new drama “The Oath”. The 10-episode show also stars Sean Bean, and is being executive produced by 50 Cent. Kwantan will also serve as a producer in the action-packed series.

Kwanten’s character Steve Hammond is the leader of a cop gang called The Ravens, and the son of Bean’s character Tom Hammond. THR desribes his character as “a cool, pragmatic, reluctant leader with the mind and instincts of a shrewd tactician, Hammond is a survivor — a natural protector who values taking care of those closest to him, his family and his team.”

“The Oath”, which has been writter by former LA County Sherrif’s Department Deputy Joe Haplin, will debut in 2018.

Gwendoline Christie is joining the growing list of cast members for Robert Zemeckis’ yet -untitled Universal drama. Steve Carell, Janelle Monae, Diane Kruger and Leslie Mann have also been tapped to star in the feature, in with Zemeckis will also produce.

The flick is based on Mark (Carell), a man who builds a miniature WWII-era village as his way of recovering from a violent assault. Christie will be playing his Russian caretaker Anna. Christie will next be seen as Captain Phasma in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and on the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones”. Via THR.

My Dinner With Hervé is adding to its cast with David Strathairn the latest addition. He joins Peter Dinklage and Jamie Dornan in the HBO drama, directed and written by Sacha Gervasi.

As reported previously, the film focuses on Hervé Villechaize (Dinklage), an actor-artist dwarf, who forms an unlikely friendship with a down-on-his-luck journo (Dornan). Strathairn has been cast as Marty Rothstein, Hervé’s longtime agent. The flick also stars Mireille Enos, Oona Chaplin and Harriet Walter (thanks THR).

A yet-untitled Arizona Project by Jonathon Watson has cast Elizabeth Gillies in the comedy. The film, with a screenplay written by Luke Del Tredici, follows an unstable man who kidnaps his real estate agent following losing his home, and forces her into a deadly game in his abandoned development. Frankly, given this description I’m intrigued how this is described as “comedy” but I’m sure we’ll soon find out.

Gillies is also set to star in the “Dynasty” reboot, upcoming on the CW. Thanks Deadline.

Star of the highly anticipated “Baby Driver”, Ansel Elgort, is going back in time to play a young John F. Kennedy Jr in “Mayday 109”. The film is the true story of the future President’s heroism as a Navy Captain during WWII.

So far the flick has no director, but has Basil Iwanyk, Beau Flynn, Elgort and Emily Gerson Saines to produce. The movie will surround the events of Kennedy’s involvement in one of the dramatic rescues in Naval history, after the PT boat he was captaining gets attacked and sunk by Japanese destroyers (via Deadline).

Joining Armie Hammer in “Sorry to Bother You” is Omari Hardwick and Terry Crews. The film has been written and directed by Boots Riley, and focuses on a black telemarketer who discovers the key to success of business, uncovering the secrets of his corporate overlords.

Hardwick and Crews also join Tessa Thompson, Lakeith Stanfield, Jermaine Fowler and Steven Yeun in the flick, which is currently in production. News via Deadline.
