Caffeinated Clint
Like any movie news site, Moviehole receives just as many dodgy tip-offs as we do credible ones. But, as any of our peers will tell you, you’re soon able to tell which ones are legit, because of how the emails are worded or how little has been given away, and you also usually hear from the same, often-reliable scoopers. While we’ve always been open to receiving scoops from anyone, as we have to be, we do seem to have a circle of trusted tipsters that we’re able to pretty much guarantee are on the level.
One of those scoopers delivered us the “xXx : Return of Xander Cage” rumour that, the internet/Paramount, confirmed today.
In January 2016, we were informed that Ice Cube was in talks to reprise his (“xXx : State of the Union”) Darius Stone role in the new Vin Diesel-starring sequel.

In the days following our report, Cube played coy, the sites that picked up the rumour treaded carefully (not certain it was legit), and said rumour quickly got brushed under the gossip carpet for… well, probably some dubious, made-up junk about who Rey’s parents are in “Force Awakens”.
Paramount released a new clip from next week’s “xXx : Return of Xander Cage” today and – way to give away the surprise (not that we can talk!) – lo and behold, there’s Ice Cube’s Darius Stone!
As I said, we were fairly certain this one was on the money all along –it came from a very reliable scooper (the same scooper who actually provided us with some great “Pitch Perfect 3” gossip a week or two ago) – and are happy to see it confirmed. Hopefully we get a little love from our colleagues when they report it.
