Anthony Hopkins to play Alfred Hitchcock?

In a new film based on the making of “Psycho”

According to IGN Movies and Hollywood-Elsewhere.com, two regular seat warmers of the Kodak Theatre are being eyed for roles in a new film about the Spaniard of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock.

Producers of the film “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, fixing on the hurdles that the famous director had to jump whilst directing “Psycho”, are trying to coax Oscar Winner Anthony Hopkins and Oscar Hopeful Helen Mirren to star in the film. Hannibal the Cannibal would play Hitchcock, Mirren (“The Queen”) would be Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s wife and lifelong creative collaborator.

What a journey the making of “Psycho” was. As the latter site reminds us, “Hitchcock was discouraged left and right from making it. The script was seen as way too dark and perverse (especially with the lead female star getting killed off after 45 minutes), and no one wanted to see a movie based more or less on the macabre exploits of serial killer Ed Gein.”

Ryan Murphy (“Nip/Tuck”) is attached to direct the Universal pickeroo.
