Are these the new Ghostbusters?

Another of those Sony emails – hacked for the world to perv on – have hit the web, this time the content pertains to the oft-discussed, all-lady “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Over the past couple of days actresses Rebel Wilson (future MTV Movie Award Winner) and Jennifer Lawrence (future Oscar Winner) have let slip that they’ve met director Paul Feig about possibly getting slimed (geez, that just sounds so, so wrong). While both suggested all that’s taken place is a brief intro to “Ghostbusters 3”, seems talks may be further along than they let on.

According to emails sourced by Indiewire, both Wilson and Lawrence are interested in being part of the cast. Furthermore, Feig also has interested from fellow thesps Lizzy Caplan (“Masters of Sex”), Emma Stone (“The Amazing Spider-Man”), Melissa McCarthy (Feig’s “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat”), and rising newcomer Amy Schumer.

“Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman, who is producing the new film, conversed with Sony chief Amy Pascal about the new film. He seems a bit worried about the film, so she’s doing her best to reassure him that the film has nothing to do with his “Ghostbusters” movies but that it’s going to be good… based on the talent they have interested.

Pascal says it “isn’t a sequel to the 80s movies and it is gonna be totally original with completely different characters and our job is to find a clever way to connect the movie to the original franchise so that we can use all the assets and everything that is great about the original franchise.”

“Paul’s movie is gonna be the first one and from what I’m hearing jennifer lawrence and Emma stone and Melissa McCarthy and Amy schumer and liszzy [Lizzy] Kaplan [Caplan] just to name a few have already said thy wanted to be in….,” she added.

In other emails, David Steinberg, the head of Sony’s legal department, said they’re going to threaten to sue Bill Murray if he keeps refusing to make an appearance in the new movie. My question : If the film has connection to the other films, and isn’t even set in the same world as the previous films, why the heck should Murray be in it?!
