Arrow won’t be anything like Smallville

That new TV series based on the popular DC comics character, Green Arrow, is about to start filming – – but will there be any green suits on hand? Don’t sound like it.

“Arrow”, which will air on America’s CW Network, will star newcomer Stephen Amell in the lead role of Oliver Queen, a billionaire industrialist who moonlights as a superhero.

Unlike the characters portrayal on TV’s ”Smallville” (in which Justin Hartley played the character), TV exec Thom Sherman says this Arrow will be less Justice League and more Jason Bourne.
“It’s a very provocative and sophisticated and edgy. It’s not as comic book-y as Smallville or other [superhero projects] from other networks.”

“He doesn’t have any superpowers, he’s a very grounded character like a Jason Bourne — we use the term ‘mambo’. His skill-set is that he’s an archer, but he also has physical strength and prowess. He’s clever and able to devise ways of taking down a bad guy that are unique and fun to watch.”

Meantime, David Ramsey (”Blue Bloods”) has been cast in the show as a new character John Diggle, “a former military man now working as a bodyguard for hire who soon finds he is trapped in a battle of wits, loyalty and trust.”

“Human Target” redux.
