Back to the Future helmer onboard Witches remake

Robert Zemeckis is set to bring Roald Dahl’s “The Witches” back to the big screen.

A second – the first, released in 1990, starred Angelica Huston – film adaptation of the beloved children’s novel was first on the to-do list of Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro. With the “Shape of Water” director’s dance card all full, “Flight” and “Back to the Future” helmer Zemeckis will now take the reigns, with del Toro remaining on as a producer.

The project is set up with Warner Bros, who are also currently developing another Dahl adaptation: a remake of ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’.
