Amy Schumer’s Barbie pushed back a year

Now that Amy Schumer is on board in the lead role, Sony has slated it’s “Barbie” movie to release on June 29, 2018.

The live-action film was previously set to open on May 12, 2017, but will now open the following year, opposite a mystery Marvel flick also slated for that date.

In the film, Schumer plays an imperfect Barbie who doesn’t fit in among all the perfect Barbie’s of Barbieland. She ventures to the real world where she realises that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in oneself, free of the obligation to adhere to some unattainable standard of perfection.

Hilary Winston wrote the script although it is expected that Schumer and her sister Kim Caramele will do a rewrite. No director is attached yet.
