Blomkamp’s Alien script had to be changed because of Prometheus

Concept sketches from Neil Blomkamp's "Alien 5"

Ridley Scott is reportedly happy with filmmaker Neil Blomkamp’s plans for a fourth sequel to the former’s “Alien”.

The storyline for the tentatively-titled “Alien 5”, which sees Sigourney Weaver return to the franchise for another go-around as Ripley, has met with Scott’s approval. There’s just one element in the script that will need to be changed because it conflicted with something in Scott’s ‘Alien’ prequel “Prometheus”.

“I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit,” Blomkamp told Empire. “One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make.”

Blomkamp isn’t ready to spill the beans on the film’s storyline, noting that even the title of the film is spoilerish.

“I sent the title to Ridley,” he said. “It’s kinda quite bold, but it gives away to much if I say the title.”

Fox commissioned Blomkamp to do the “Alien” film after he won the studio over with an array of impressive concept sketches and ostensibly, compelling storyline pitch.
