Ahead of the trailer on Friday, USA Today have released some terrific new photos from David Gordon Green’s “Halloween” reboot.
In the film, released in October, a British documentary crew comes to the States to visit Michael in prison for a retrospective of the maniac’s night of terror — “Someone has to bring a modern audience into a 40-year old movie,” Curtis says — but their project becomes way more interesting when Myers escapes custody, retrieves his signature mask and seeks revenge on Laurie, with others naturally being part of his impressive career body count along the way. In the decades following the fateful Halloween night that forever altered the former babysitter’s life, Laurie has armed and prepped herself for Michael’s inevitable return — to the detriment of her family, including daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).
“We’re being very honest and truthful about that, how it would affect the upbringing of her daughter, who has a lot of conflicts because of her mother’s obsession with this incident, and her granddaughter, who’s trying to connect” with Laurie, Green says.
Her community is also a little wary of Laurie. “It becomes a little bit ‘The British are coming!’ and everybody just gets tired of it,” Curtis says. “It’s the girl who cried Michael, and they’re all like, ‘Oh, my God, Laurie, shut the (expletive) up.’ And that’s why I like where we find her.”
Donald Glover, Ryan Gosling and Ezra Miller are reportedly in the running to play Willy Wonka in Paul King’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” redo. (Collider)
Joss Whedon will executive produce Freeform’s new half-hour comedy “Pippa Smith: Grown-Up Detective.” Hailing from creators Siobhan Thompson and Rebecca Drysdale, the series is described as a dark comedy that follows Pippa Smith, a twenty-something former kid sleuth, as she deals with relationships, addiction and being too dang old for the detecting game. Each episode, Pippa solves a new case, while unraveling a bigger mystery and attempting to navigate a messy personal life. (Variety)
The official full trailer for HBO’s “Sharp Objects”, based on the book by Gillian Flynn, and starring Amy Adams, has been released.
There’s been some progress on a Darla-headed “Roseanne” spin-off with the producers, including Sara Gilbert, having now pitched ABC their idea. They/we wait now.
Grace VanderWaal, who at 12 years old won American’s Got Talent two years ago playing the ukulele and singing her original songs, will play the lead in Disney’s “Stargirl”. Julia Hart directs the movie, based on the young adult novel of the same name. (Deadline)

A “Beerfest” sequel apparently debuts on The CW Seed today. Who knew?
BEERFEST: THIRST FOR VICTORY launches today commercial-free on CW Seed, The CW Network’s digital channel; it is the first original full-length feature film to debut on CW Seed.
In BEERFEST: THIRST FOR VICTORY, a group of twenty-something friends, struggling to recapture the rowdy glory of their college days, reunite to compete in an underground drinking competition and take down the tournament’s evil CEO. Inspired by the 2006 cult classic movie, “Beerfest,” the digital feature follows Scott, Rob, Adam, Doberman, and Melanie as they attempt to master the American competitive drinking circuit. Along the way, they rediscover their original, raucous friendships and are reminded that life happens outside of the cubicle. Starring Blake Cooper Griffin, Brendan Robinson, Russell Charles Pitts, Luka Bayani and Lili Mirojnick.
