Sam Raimi dropped a bombshell at Comic-Con on the weekend, announcing a TV series based on his classic horror series “Evil Dead” is in the works. Though Bruce Campbell starred in the original trilogy, he was nowhere to be seen – except for that 5-second end credits appearance – in the 2013 remake. Goes without saying then that most assumed he wouldn’t be back for the new TV series either.
Well, surprise!
According to Campbell, the chainsaw-wielding ‘Ash’ will indeed be the headline act of the new “Evil Dead” TV series.
There was talk for a while that Raimi and Campbell were developing a sequel to “Army of Darkness” – the third in the “Evil Dead” series – but it’s possible that the film idea has merged into the TV series proposal.
We’ll likely hear more soon, but for the moment… here’s the Tweet that revealed Campbell’s involvement.
Only if @GroovyBruce is the STAR of this new tv series will I accept. Don't make a fool out of us long time fans.
