The “Ranger” to return to screens

Now that the “Pirates” have sailed off into the sunset, what next for producer Jerry Bruckheimer and writers Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot?

A western, it seems. (Funnily enough, Rossio mentioned to Moviehole a month or two back that he’d like to do a western). But not just any western – a big-screen version of the TV classic “The Lone Ranger”.

Collider.com says to expect a trade announcement about the new project over the next few days.

As someone that’s currently producing a western – which you may have read about elsewhere – I’m bias, but I personally believe that it’s a genre that’s FAR from dead…. Something many studios will tell you. Make a good one – as Eastwood proved with “Unforgiven” – and they will come.
