Casting: Watts, Monaghan, God Particle, Gustin & Macy, Legends of Tomorrow

Naomi Watts is in talks to join Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson in comedic drama “The Glass Castle”.

The adaptation of Jeannette Walls’ memoir is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It centres on “a successful young woman who was raised by dysfunctional and nonconformist parents. Her world gets turned upside down when they move to New York to be near her” (via THR).

Harrelson plays her alcoholic father and Watts will play her eccentric mother.

 

 

Michelle Monaghan has joined Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Jimmy O. Yang, Vincent Curatola and James Colby in CBS Films and Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon Bombing film “Patriots Day”.

Peter Berg is attached to direct the film which chronicles the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.

Monaghan will play Carol Saunders, the wife of Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Wahlberg), both of who are composite characters.

The film will open in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on December 21, 2016.

 

 

David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are in negotiations to star in producer J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi thriller “God Particle”.

Julius Onah is directing the film which is set in the near future and centres on “a team of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival” (via Variety).

“God Particle” will open on February 24, 2017.

 

 

Grant Gustin, Nick Robinson, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman, T.I., Kathy Bates and John Leguizamo are on board to star in independent dramedy “Krystal”.

Macy is also attached to direct from a script by Will Aldis which follows a young man (Robinson) who has never had a drink in his life. When he meets the woman of his dreams — an ex-hooker-stripper-junkie-alcoholic — he pretends to be in Alcoholics Anonymous to try and woo her.

 

 

Mitchell Kummen will play the younger version of Mick Rory (aka Heat Wave) (played by Dominic Purcell) in a guest starring role on “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”.

Described as “a confused teenager whose love of fire becomes lethal”, Kummen will appear in the April 21 episode.
