Casting: Wolverine 3, Heard & Steenburgen, Patriots Day, Morgan, Holm

“Narcos” star Boyd Holbrook is set to play the lead villain in “Wolverine 3”.

Holbrook will play “a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman’s clawed Wolverine/Logan hero” (via Deadline).

Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart are also starring in the film from director James Mangold with a script by David James Kelly.

Production will kick off in May for the release on March 3 next year.

 

 

Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, Amber Heard, Dolly Wells, Wyatt Cenac and Chace Crawford are joining Lake Bell and Ed Helms in feature comedy “What’s the Point? (And Other Fair Questions About Marriage)”.

Bell will direct the film from her own script when the shoot starts this month. She’s also producing with Jett Steiger, Miranda Bailey and Amanda Marshall with exec producers Jason Beck and Andy Bohn.

The film, a follow up to Bell’s “In A World…”, focuses on the concept that marriage should be a seven-year contract with an option to renew (via Deadline).

 

 

Lana Condor (“X-Men: Apocalypse”) has joined the cast of Mark Wahlberg’s “Patriots Day”.

She will play an MIT grad student and the girlfriend of MIT police officer Sean Collier (who was shot and killed three days after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing by either Dzhokhar Tsarnaev or Tamerlan Tsarnaev after the FBI published images of the brothers).

Wahlberg, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon, Michelle Monaghan, Jimmy O. Yang, Michael Beach, Vincent Curatola, Alex Wolff, Themo Melikidze, James Colby, Rachel Brosnahan and Christopher O’Shea are also in the cast.

The film has a script by Matt Charman based on the account of former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Peter Berg is directing.

The movie will open on December 21, 2016.

 

 

Tracy Morgan is in talks to join writer/director Dito Montiel’s new comedy “The Clapper”, starring Ed Helms and Amanda Seyfried.

Based on Montiel’s book, The Clapper centres on “a professional clapper for infomercials who gets plucked by a late night talk show host to be on his TV show. That notoriety then ends up costing him personally. Morgan will play Helms’ best friend Chris Plork who is a loyal and devoted confidante and provides a good deal of the humor and charm of the script” (via Deadline).

 

 

Anders Holm (“Workaholics”) has been cast in Judy Greer’s directorial debut “A Happening of Monumental Proportions”, reports Variety.

Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford and Common are also in the cast of the film which tells an all-in-one-day tale of sex, lies and dead bodies in a small Los Angeles school.

Gary Lundy wrote the script. Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano are producing via their Depth of Field banner with David Gardner of Principato-Young.
