Casting: The Glass Castle, Devine, Dobrev

“New Girl” star Max Greenfield is in talks to star with Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts in Lionsgate’s adaptation of Jeannette Walls’ memoir “The Glass Castle.”

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film about “a young girl who comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads. Walls’ eccentric mother and alcoholic father would stir the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty” (via Variety).

Greenfield will play Jeannette’s loyal but distant husband. Coming from a privileged upbringing, he now lives in Westchester working in finance. He tries to understand and help Jeannette cope with her parents’ unexpected arrival.

Adam Devine is attached to star in New Line’s comedy “Paternity Leave”.

Todd Strauss-Schulson will direct the film about three immature friends who fake pregnancies in a bid to receive three months paternity leave and go on an all-expenses-paid trip.

Adam Cole-Kelly and Sam Pitman wrote the most recent draft of the script. Andrew Panay initially came up with the concept and is producing.

Nina Dobrev is in talks to star in Sony’s reboot of the 1990 sci-fi medical thriller “Flatliners”.

Ellen Page and Diego Luna star in the film from director Niels Arden Oplev. Ben Ripley penned the script.

Opening with the line “today is a good day to die,” the original Flatliners featured Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon and focused on a group of medical students who conduct near-death experiments to travel into the afterworld to find greater meaning and hidden truths. Being a movie, things go wrong, and they get a lot more than they bargain for. – via Deadline.
