Casting: Brosnan, Mitchell, Russell, Odenkirk

Pierce Brosnan is set to star in AMC’s drama series “The Son”, replacing Sam Neill in the lead role.

The show is based on Philipp Meyer’s book with a script by Meyer, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy. It’s described as “a multi-generational epic tale of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family” (via Deadline).

Brosnan will play Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family.

Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon, Paola Nunez and Sydney Lucas co-star in the show which has Kevin Murphy as executive producer and showrunner.

 

 

“Pretty Little Liars” star Shay Mitchell is set to headline horror-thriller “Cadaver”.

Diederik Van Rooijen is directing from a script written by Brian Sieve about a disgraced ex-cop and recovering addict (Mitchell) who works the graveyard shift at the morgue in the hospital where she got sober. When a mysterious and brutally massacred body is delivered to the morgue, she begins to witness terrorizing and violent murders.

Producers are Sean Robins and Todd Garner of Broken Road Productions.

 

 

Alex Russell is joining Miles Teller, Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges, James Badge Dale and Taylor Kitsch in firefighter movie “Granite Mountain” for Lionsgate and Black Label Media.

Joseph Kosinski will direct the film, which centres on the “Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of firefighters that faced one of the deadliest wildfires in history in order to save an Arizona town, resulting in the tragic death of 19 crew members” (via Variety).

 

 

Bob Odenkirk is attached to play journalist David Carr in AMC and Sony Pictures Television’s adapation of Carr’s memoir “The Night of the Gun”.

The six-part miniseries will be written by Shawn Ryan and will air on AMC.
