The voice cast of Disney’s “Moana” has been announced.
Joining Dwayne Johnson and Auli‘i Cravalho in the November 23 release are:
- Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa, a self-absorbed, 50-foot crab who lives in Lalotai, the realm of monsters. The conceited crustacean wants to be more than a “bottom feeder” and overcompensates for this perceived shortcoming by covering himself in all things shiny.
- Rachel House lends her voice to Gramma Tala, Moana’s confidante and best friend, who shares her granddaughter’s special connection to the ocean. Although her son Tui, the chief of Motunui, is a no-nonsense leader, Gramma Tala most definitely dances to the beat of her own drum.
- Temuera Morrison voices Moana’s father, Chief Tui, the gregarious and well-respected leader of the people of Motunui Island. Chief Tui wants Moana to follow in his footsteps as leader of their people, but fears his daughter’s draw to the ocean and the world that lies beyond their reef.
- Nicole Scherzinger voices Moana’s mother, Sina, who always has her daughter’s back. Playful, sharp and strong-willed, Sina appreciates Moana’s longing to be on the water, but also wants to protect her daughter from the fabled dangers beyond the reef.
- Alan Tudyk is behind the voice of Heihei. Heihei is one dumb rooster—the village idiot, in fact. When the clueless chicken accidently stows away on Moana’s canoe, he lands a front-row seat for her epic journey.
Asa Butterfield and Alex Wolff will star opposite Ellen Burstyn, Nick Offerman, Maude Apatow and Michaela Watkins in director Peter Livolsi’s adaptation of Peter Bognanni’s novel “The House of Tomorrow”.
“The House of Tomorrow” tells the story of futurist, architect and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller through two teens hoping to get laid, become punk gods and survive high school. The novel, published in 2011, is set in Iowa, where a teenage boy lives in a geodesic dome with his eccentric grandmother, who has spent the last 11 years homeschooling him on the teachings of Fuller. When his grandmother has a stroke, he’s forced to leave the dome and discover what it means to live a normal life.
“Downton Abbey” star Michelle Dockery will star opposite Jeff Daniels and Jack O’Connell in Netflix’s upcoming mini-series “Godless”.
The story centers on Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels), a menacing outlaw who is terrorizing the West as he hunts down Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell), his son-like partner turned mortal enemy. While Roy hides at Alice Fletcher’s (Michelle Dockery) ranch, Frank’s chase leads him to the quiet town of La Belle, N.M. — which is mysteriously made up of entirely women.
Steven Soderbergh, Scott Frank and Casey Silver are executive producers, and Frank serves as both writer and director on the project.
“Orange Is the New Black” actress Samira Wiley has been cast in Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
The ten-ep series, which is based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel of the same name, will be written and exec produced by Bruce Miller.
According to THR, the drama “tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the U.S. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism that treats women as property of the state. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elizabeth Moss) is a handmaid in the commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world. She is forced to navigate between commanders, their cruel wives, domestic “Marthas” (servants) and her fellow handmaids — where anyone could be a spy for Gilead — all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.”
Wiley will play Offred’s college friend and fellow handmaiden Moira.
Alessandro Nivola (“Neon Demon”) has landed two new gigs.
Nivola will join Joaquin Phoenix in writer/director Lynne Ramsay’s “You Were Never Really Here” and will co-star with Juno Temple in writer/director/producer Liz Garcia’s “One Percent More Humid”.
“You Were Never Really Here” is based on Jonathan Ames’ novel about Albert Votto (Nivola), a New York politician who finds himself at the center of a sinister web of organized crime.
In in “One Percent More Humid”, Nivola will play literature professor Gerald McCann who has an affair with a grieving student (Temple).
