Casting: Moretz, Thompson & Tucci, Teller, Ali, Krypton, Outlander

Chloe Moretz will star opposite Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, and Mia Goth in director Luca Guadagnino’s retelling of the classic horror pic “Suspiria”.

David Kajganich is penning the script based on the 1977 film about a young ballet dancer who travels to a prestigious dance academy in Europe, only to discover it is a front for something far more sinister and supernatural amidst a series of increasingly grisly murders (via Variety).

 

 

Emma Thompson and Stanley Tucci have become attached to star in “The Children Act”.

Richard Eyre is directing the project which has a script by author Ian McEwan, adapted from his novel.

Thompson plays Fiona Maye, an eminent judge in London who presides with wisdom and compassion over ethically complex cases of family law. But she has paid a heavy personal price for her workload, and her marriage to American professor Jack (Tucci) is at breaking point.

 

 

Miles Teller will voice aardvark Gilbert in Unified Pictures’ upcoming animated film “The Ark and the Aardvark”.

The film, which re-tells the story of Noah’s Ark from the perspective of the animals, is directed by John Stevenson.

 

 

Mahershala Ali (“Luke Cage”, “House of Cards”) is in negotiations to join Fox’s “Alita: Battle Angel”.

Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley, Ed Skrein and Keann Johnson are in the cast of the film to be produced by James Cameron and director by Robert Rodriguez.

Set in the 26th century, “Alita” centres on a female cyborg (Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals. The action-adventure story is meant to serve as a backdrop to themes of self-discovery and the search for love.

According to THR, Ali will play a villain named Vector, who runs and fixes matches in a gladiator-style combat game called Motorball.

 

 

Syfy’s Superman prequel show “Krypton” has cast Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather.

“Krypton” is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. Its follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Georgina Campbell is also in the cast.

 

 

César Domboy and Lauren Lyle have been cast in Starz drama “Outlander” for season 3.

Domboy will play an older version of Fergus (the young version is played by Romann Berrux) and Lyle will play Marsali, one of Laoghaire MacKenzie’s (Nell Hudson) daughters.

The third season of “Outlander” will premiere on Starz next year.
