Casting: Doctor Strange, Graham, Riggle, Qualley, Internet Famous, Keating, Smit-McPhee

Amy Landecker has joined Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton and Michael Stuhlbarg in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange”.

Scott Derrickson is directing the film about Cumberbatch’s titular neurosurgeon Stephen Strange.

Landecker’s role is being kept under wraps (via TheWrap).

 

 

Lauren Graham and Rob Riggle will join Griffin Gluck for CBS Films’ “Middle School”.

Thomas Barbusca, Andrew Daly, Adam Pally, Efren Ramirez, Isabela Moner and Alexa Nisenson have also been cast in the adaptation of James Patterson’s novels.

Production will kick off this month in Atlanta, with Lionsgate and CBS Films setting an October 7 release.

Steve Carr will direct from Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer and Kara Holden’s script about Rafe Khatchadorian (Gluck), who uses all of his wits to battle bullies, hormones and the tyrannical, test-obsessed principal.

Graham will play his mother and Riggle will play her boyfriend, Bear.

 

 

Margaret Qualley is in talks for the female lead in Warner Bros.’ horror flick “Death Note”.

Adam Wingard is directing with Nat Wolff attached to star.

“The story, set in major metropolitan American city, centers on a student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim’s name, who then decides to cleanse the world of whom he deems evil. As the student is tracked by a reclusive police officer, a cat-and-mouse game ensues” (via THR).

 

 

Youtuber Shane Dawson will star in “Internet Famous”, Maker Studios and Lakeshore Entertainment’s mocumentary feature which will spoof digital celebrity.

Michael Gallagher is directing the film about six Internet personalities (Dawson, Steven Greene, Amanda Cerny, Christian DelGrosso, Wendy McColm, Richard Ryan) who travel across the country to compete in a talent competition, the winner receiving their very own TV show.

The film will get a digital release next year.

 

 

Ronan Keating has landed a role in the U.K. period drama “Another Mother’s Son”.

Based on the true story of Louisa Gould (Jenny Seagrove), the film is set during World War II on the Nazi-occupied island of Jersey. The story centres on Lou, who takes in an escaped Russian prisoner of war and hides him over the course of the war. Tension mounts as it becomes clear that Churchill will not risk an assault to re-capture the British soil, and the island-community spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty.

Keating will play Harold Gould.

John Hannah, Amanda Abbington, Peter Wight and Susan Hampshire co-star in the film from director Chris Menaul.

 

 

Kodi Smit-McPhee is in negotiations to headline Albert Hughes’ “The Solutrean”.

The project will be the first film to go into production for Studio 8.

Dan Wiedenhaupt wrote the script, set 20,000 years ago in Europe during the Upper Paleolithic period, which centers on a young man’s quest to brave the inhospitable and dangerous conditions and find his way back to his tribe.
