Casting : Hardy, Eisenberg, Kruger, Hirsch, Kingsley, Collette, Fanning, Fiennes, Mikkelsen

Locke

“Mad Max Fury Road” star Tom Hardy is set to star in the real-time thriller “Locke”. The film ”will be shot in real time over 90 minutes and follows a man on the road to success who must race to save his life from unravelling after he receives a mysterious phone call”. Steven Knight will direct, from his own screenplay. “It’s a cool project,” IM Global CEO Stuart Ford said. “It’s fresh and has great talent involved. We’re delighted to be working again with Shoebox and Steven and it’s not often these things come together so quickly. When Shoebox told me about it I committed to it immediately, Steven went off and wrote the script and Tom approved the script.” (Screen Daily)

Midnight Sun

Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Kruger, and Emile Hirsch are set for Chris Eigeman’s 1940’s drama. ”Set in 1943, the drama follows two young post graduates recruited by the US Government to work on a top-secret project in New Mexico. Along with one of the students’ new wife, they drop their jazz-filled lives in New York and move to a secret community of scientists in the desert.” (Screen Daily)

The Boxtrolls

Ben Kingsley, Toni Collette, Elle Fanning, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Tracy Morgan will lend their voices to the comedic family fable. The film ”unfolds in Cheesebridge, a posh Victorian-era town obsessed with wealth, class, and the stinkiest of fine cheeses. Beneath its charming cobblestone streets dwell the Boxtrolls, foul monsters who crawl out of the sewers at night and steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. At least, that’s the legend residents have always believed. In truth, the Boxtrolls are an underground cavern-dwelling community of quirky and lovable oddballs who wear recycled cardboard boxes the way turtles wear their shells. The Boxtrolls have raised an orphaned human boy, Eggs (voiced by Mr. Hempstead-Wright), since infancy as one of their dumpster-diving and mechanical junk-collecting own. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by villainous pest exterminator Archibald Snatcher (Mr. Kingsley), who is bent on eradicating them as his ticket to Cheesebridge society, the kindhearted band of tinkerers must turn to their adopted charge and adventurous rich girl Winnie (Ms. Fanning) to bridge two worlds amidst the winds of change – and cheese.” (Bloody Disgusting)

Our Kind of Traitor

Ralph Fiennes and Mads Mikkelsen are in talks to join the feature adaptation of the John Le Carre book. ”Ewan McGregor will star in the international spy thriller as one half of a couple who gets mixed up with a Russian oligarch and major money launderer (who would be played by Mikkelsen). Caught up in his plans to defect, they are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service. Fiennes would play the story’s UK government fixer Hector Meredith. Casting on the female lead has yet to be determined.” Justin Kurzel (“Snowtown”) directs. (Screen Daily)
