Emily Blunt is joining Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” for director Jaume Collet-Serra (“The Commuter”). Inspired by the Disneland theme park ride, the film would see Blunt play a scientist who teams up with Johnson’s riverboat captain on the hunt for a magical cure. The movie, said to be a mix of “The African Queen” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”, will begin shooting in May. (THR)

Jim Caviezel will reprise his “Passion of the Christ” role for the long-awaited sequel. Of the new film, which Mel Gibson will again direct, the actor tells USA Today : “There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience. It’s great … I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it, but I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.”

Bill Nighy (“Underworld”) and newcomer Chris Geere (“You’re the Worst”) have joined the cast of “Detective Pikachu” at Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures. Rob Letterman is directing the film, in which Ryan Reynolds provides the voice of the title character. (Heat Vision)
