Casting : Star Wars IX gets Doctor Who star; Once Upon A Time in Hollywood adds to its star-studded lineup

“Doctor Who” alum Matt Smith is joining “Star Wars: Episode IX” in a yet-unknown role, reports Variety. The star of “The Crown” joins Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver, as well as newcomers Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, and Naomi Ackie.

Billy Dee Williams is also on board to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian, and Carrie Fisher will be featured as Leia Organa. Also returning are Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels. J.J. Abrams is set to direct.

Quentin Tarantino’s next flick “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a star-studded affair, led by Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie. The cast also includes Lena Dunham, Maya Hawke, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Luke Perry, James Marsden, Timothy Olyphant, Tim Roth and Burt Reynolds.

Though already bursting at the seams, some new additions have been made, with Rafal Zawierucha, Danny Strong, Sydney Sweeney, Clu Gulager, James Landry Hébert and Mikey Madison tapped to star. Zawierucha will play a young Roman Polanski.

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” follows Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), a former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Pitt), who are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore – per The Hollywood Reporter. The film is set for release July 26, 2019.
