Chris Hemsworth in talks for Men in Black spinoff

Sony is bringing back the “Men in Black” – though the cool cat in the glasses will look more like a Norse God than a Fresh Prince next time around. A new “Kingsman”-esque spin-off is in the works, with new characters and a new backdrop, in what THR describes as a “global adventure”.

Agents K and J (originally played by Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith) won’t be back.  The new adventure will purportedly be something more suitable to today’s day and age- because, as we all know, talking dogs are so 1998.

Word is that “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth is circling a lead role in the spinoff, said to be in early negotiations to star in the sci-fi action comedy. Additionally, “Fate of the Furious” director F. Gary Gray is also in talks to helm the film, which has already been slated for a June 14, 2019 release date.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back as producers, while Steven Spielberg is returning as executive producer. According to THR, sources say that in terms of casting, they have their eyes on a diverse ensemble cast and may be potentially eyeing the leads to be white male, a female of color and an older man.

Originally, Sony were considering crossing over “MIB” with “Jump Street” but that idea’s seemingly gone the way of theater projectionists.
