Hasn’t been much talk of The Weinstein Company’s proposed “Knight Rider” movie since, well, the TV reboot of the ’80s ratings-sensation tanked. But if this latest rumour is sound, seems there’s money-men out there that are convinced the brand still has juice left in it’s engine.
Schmoes Know report a rumour today that suggests Bob and Harvey are convinced that there’s definitely still an audience out there hungry for a hero-car movie duo; according to the site, Chris Pratt (“Jurassic World”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Danny McBride (“Eastbound & Down”, “The Pineapple Express”) are in talks to play Michael Knight and K.I.T.T, respectively, in the big-screen revamp of the David Haselhoff series.
The Schmoes say both actors are “in talks”, suggesting things are pretty far along in terms of negotiations, but it’s the first time anyone’s heard much about the “Knight Rider” movie in a long time, let alone Pratt and McBride being up for the main parts. But regardless of how on-the-money the scoop is, as a fan, I like it. Pratt would definitely fit the mould of the moonlight-driving hero, while McBride would not doubt make for an entertaining talking car.
Haselhoff played Michael Knight in the ’80s “Knight Rider”, with William Daniels (of “Boy Meet’s World” fame) providing the voice of the car, K.I.T.T; in the NBC reboot, Justin Bruening played Knight’s son, with Val Kilmer as K.I.T.T.
