  • Stephen Fry will write and direct an adaptation of his novel “The Stars’ Tennis Balls” – a reworking of “The Count of Monte Cristo” – for Michael Winterbottom and Andrew Eaton’s Revolution Films, reports Variety.

  • John Turturro. James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon and Kate Winslet will star in “Romance & Cigarettes” a dark comic musical that tells the story of one man’s journey into infidelity and redemption, says Variety. Icon Entertainment International will co-finance and handle international distribution rights.

  • Warners’ "The Matrix: Reloaded" makes box-office history as the highly anticipated sequel collects an estimated $93.3 million during the three-day session and a staggering $135.8 million since its release late Wednesday night, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Biggest ever debut for an R Rated film folks.

  • The St.Petersburg Times has location and story details up for “The Punisher”. According to the site, locations secured for use include Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs and Honeymoon Island State Park, off Dunedin. Shoots in Tarpon Springs’ sponge docks district and downtown St. Petersburg are also possible.

  • Cinescape reports that Vertigo sci-fi comic "Y: The Last Man" has been optioned by New Line for the big screen treatment. David Goyer’s production company –PhantomFour – is involved, but it’s unsure whether he’ll write the movie.

  • A Scooper for Dark Horizons says the Dragonball-Z movie will be PG-13 rating and a running time of somewhere between 3-4 hours, hoping the series to be four films long. “George Lucas’ CGI company ILM has (apparently) signed a contract to do the special effects. Some sad news, due to casting and scheduling difficulties, filming that was set to begin real soon has been put off until Summer 2004”, says the scooper. “As of right now there is no definite title. The most obvious choice would be plain "DragonBall Z", but FOX is also leaning toward "DragonBall Z: Unlimited" or "DragonBall Z: Fight for Man Kind"".

  • A.J. Cook, Nastassja Kinski, John Rhys-Davies and Thomas Kretschmann will star in “Living in Neon Dreams”, a contemporary ‘Alice in Wonderland’ tale from 22-year-old English writer-director Jeremy Tarr, says Variety.

  • Samuel Hadida and the U.K. media company Wandering Star are developing the $55 million Solomon Kane, an action blockbuster adapted from a cult book by the author behind "Conan the Barbarian," reports Variety.
