Comic-Con : 10 Things We Leant from the X-Men : Days of Future Past Panel and Press Conference

Bryan Singer led the cast of his huge “X-Men” sequel out onto the Hall H stage today, and all got a rousing reception. Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage and others joined Singer in singing the praises of this very ambitious movie, which combines the casts of both the original “X-Men” trilogy and 2011’s “X-Men : First Class”.

In addition, the cast and crew met privately with press to talk about the film; it’s there that a few more details on the film’s plot were revealed.

1. Singer suggests there’s many more “X-Men” movies in the pipeline following 2014’s “Days of Future Past”. “It’s as every bit as large as the Marvel Universe movies and the DC universe. There’s room for expanding the film canon.” Singer said team-up movies, solo movies, and a sequel to “Days of Future Past” are all possible.

2. In the film, Kitty Pryde sends Wolverine back in time. “Basically the notion is Hugh of the future is sent … his conscienceness… is sent into his younger self [and] Hugh gets to play both parts because he is ageless,” Singer said.

3. Mystique battles Magneto in one action-packed sequence! (Later, she’ll become slightly more ‘villainous’, ultimately teaming up with Magneto).

4. Ellen Page, who played Kitty in “X-Men : The Last Stand”, never expected to reprise the role. “When I did the first one I had never been on a set that size or scale so it blew my mind. I never expected to play Kitty again.

5. ‘Deadpool’ isn’t in “X-Men : Days of Future Past”, but Bryan Singer suggests he might pop up in an “X-Men” film later on.

6. ‘Quicksilver’ (Evan Peters) is in the ’70s part of the film.

7. The footage from the film looks great – especially moments between Old and Young Professor X’s, the latter of whom pleads the younger to help him reclaim that feeling of hope and optimism.

8. The older ‘X-Men” characters are quite fragile and beaten in the present; Xavier and Magneto look rather weary and forlorn, while Wolverine – with gray in his beard – looks like he’s about had his time too. It’s Xavier who asks Wolverine to fix things.

9. Magneto and Xavier team-up to end a war before it ever begins. Nice!

10. Mystique transforms into a ‘pimp’, cruising the streets, in one scene.

Fox had some good stuff today at their panel, which also consisted of promo for “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “The Wolverine”, also featuring Hugh Jackman.
