“Private Ryan” pals doing Iraq and JFK movies, respectively


“Bourne” duo Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass will reunite on on an adaptation of “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” for Universal, says Variety.

Damon, who worked with Greengrass on the second and third installments in the “Bourne” franchise, would play a composite character based on figures in Washington Post scribe Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s tome about chaos in Iraq.

Meantime, Damon’s old “Saving Private Ryan” comrade, Tom Hanks, has inked a deal to turn Vincent Bugliosi’s 1,632-page book “Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy” into a miniseries, says the trade.

Ten-parter will debunk long-held conspiracy theories and establish that assassin Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
HBO is wrapping up a deal to finance and air the mini, which will depict Oswald’s journey to becoming an assassin and his subsequent murder on live TV by Jack Ruby.

Playtone’s Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will exec produce along with their “Big Love” star Bill Paxton.
