Dawson’s Creek returning? True or False?

Slow news week, tabloids?

Australia’s NW magazine reports this month that a telemovie sequel to ‘90s teen soap “Dawson’s Creek” will be paddling it’s way to screens in 2017.

Get a load of this (oh, please…)

“Everyone involved agrees now is the right time to do a reunion,” spills an industry insider of the movie-length episode set to air mid-2017. “They were waiting on a good storyline and script, and boy have the writers delivered.”

What’s more, they’ve worked out a way to include Michelle’s character Jen, who – spoiler alert! – sadly died in the 2003 series finale. #stillnotoverit. While the series spy is keeping silent on exactly how Jen returns – “It’s being kept strictly under wraps, only a handful of people know,” the insider explains – Michelle has previously revealed she’s got a few ideas up her sleeve.
Thing is, none of the show’s original cast seems to be aware of such a plan.

According to the insider ”They’re all so excited.”

Who’s excited? the cast? or the mother’s group friends of the bored housewife who cooked up the story for the magazine?

Despite the publication’s insistence that a follow-up, set to air next year, will see James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams (yes, despite her character dying in the finale), Josh Jackson and Busy Phillips reprise their roles from Kevin Williamson’s acclaimed drama, the core cast are saying otherwise.

Sounds like they’d all prefer to shave their legs with scissors than go there.

Katie Holmes, speaking on Sirius FM’s ‘Just Jenny Show’, debunked the rumours.

“I don’t think we’re going to do a reunion,” the actor turned filmmaker said. She added that “the charm of the show was Kevin Williamson’s writing and it was of that time and it gave teenagers this voice.”

Josh Jackson, who played bowl-cut model Pacey, also downplayed the rumours when he was asked about them.

“I think for anyone who was actually a fan of Dawson’s, to actually see the four of us on camera again, might be a little shocking and heartbreaking,” Jackson said on Ellen on December 13.

Michelle Williams, who has since gone onto much bigscreen acclaim since playing Jen Lindley on the small screen, has said the same in a couple of interviews the month.

No word from Dawson, he’s probably too busy putting up the tree..

The creek itself hasn’t even expressed interest in doing it.

So end of story.

For those that don’t remember “Dawson’s Creek” – it was made by Kevin Williamson, the brainchild of “Scream Queens”. As a fan of it, I decided to watch the earlier show on cable TV re-runs and totally saw the appeal right away. It’s easy to understand why it became such a favourite with teens. Here’s some cute moments to let you in on what all the fuss was about. From the joys of warm-and-fuzzy young love to dealing with her a criminal daddy and, in Dawson’s case, working towards a goal of working for Steven Spielberg one day… it had it all.

I was over at our editor’s recently. I noticed the soundtrack CD in his collection, so he lent it to me – and even recommend the best songs from it! Naww! Someone he use to be close to (she passed) had a song on there that she said reminded her of him.  This is it. It’s just one of those great soundtrack songs that resonates. There’s so many goodies though.

and let’s revisit some “Dawson’s Creek”…
