Deadwood movie officially moving forwards

HBO has officially greenlit the “Deadwood” movie, with production set to begin in October for a 2019 release.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys made the announcement, stating “All of these people worked hard to get this together. It’s been a logistics nightmare getting all the cast members’ schedules together, but we are there. It is greenlit.”

“Deadwood” finished up in 2006 after a very successful run of 3 seasons, and a handful of Emmy nominations to boot. The show took place in the 1870s in Deadwood, S.D., and charted the titular community’s growth from a camp to a town. The large ensemble cast included actors Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, and John Hawkes.
