Donnie Yen will join Disney’s live-action “Mulan”, reports Deadline. Yen joins Liu Yifei in the title role, and Niki Caro who is directing the film.
Yen’s character is Commander Tung, a mentor and teacher to Mulan. Script is by Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin. Chris Bender, Jason Reed and Jake Weiner are producing.
Yen recently starred in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, making “Mulan” his second big-budget Disney flick.
“Mulan” is set for release on March 27, 2020, with casting still underway.
