DuVernay may direct Black Panther

“Selma” director Ava DuVernay is being courted by Marvel to direct one of their upcoming superhero movies.

The Wrap, who had the news, say it’s most likely the filmmaker is being specifically eyed to helm 2018’s “Black Panther”.

Insiders tell the outlet that Marvel is keen on hiring an African-American director of the Chadwick Boseman-starrer, and a female filmmaker for “Captain Marvel”.

DuVernay would be the first female director to be granted admission into the MCU, though Patty Jenkins was briefly attached to direct “Thor : The Dark World” before Alan Taylor took over following creative differences between the former and Marvel.
