Dwayne Johnson boards Disney’s Jungle Cruise

Dwayne Johnson is set to star in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise”, a film based on the theme park ride.

“Focus” writer/directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra are attached the write the script, but at this stage no director is attached.

Producers are John Davis and John Fox.

“[Disney production president] Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins,” Johnson told THR. “We’re starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go.”

This is not the first time Disney has tried to get a “Jungle Cruise” film off the ground. The latest attempt was in 2011 when the studio announced plans for a film starring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, but the film never came to fruition.
