Eddie Izzard, Nadia Alexander and Ismenia Mendes have joined “Orange is the New Black” creator Jenji Kohan’s new series, “The Devil You Know”.
Directed by Gus Van Sant, the period drama “explores the circumstances around one of the most compelling chapters in American history — the infamous Salem Witch Trials in 17th century New England, where intolerance and repression set neighbor against neighbor and led a town to mass hysteria”, according to Deadline.
Izzard is Thomas Putnam, the Puritan patriarch of the Putnam clan. He’s the leader of Salem village.. but for how long?
Alexander is playing Ann Putnam Jr, a woman a little unsure of her place in the world, and Mendes plays Mercy Lewis, a servant girl who has been captured.
Production begins in Boston in the Spring.
