Elizabeth Banks departs Pitch Perfect 3!

“Pitch Perfect 2” director Elizabeth Banks won’t be back to direct the third in the series, says Variety.

The actress turned filmmaker reportedly had to knock back Universal’s offer to helm the next film in the series – due December 22, 2017 – because of her other commitments. In addition to a slew of acting gigs, Banks is also attached to direct a “Charlie’s Angels” reboot for Sony and an adaptation of young adult novel “Red Queen” at Universal.

Banks is still likely to still reprise her role as the commentator in the comedy sequel, appearing alongside returning stars Anna Kendrick, Britanny Snow and Rebel Wilson.
