Ever notice the similarities between Sigourney Weaver and James Franco?

…. No, me neither.

In fact, I’d say the only thing they’ve likely in common is the possibility that they’ve both been dressed in nothing but white singlets and underwear while caressing fur.

Seems Ridley Scott is able to easily picture young James Franco coming from the same family tree as Sigourney Weaver though – after all, he’s cast him as Ellen Ripley’s dad in the next “Alien” film*.

Rumour has it that the “This is the End” star has filmed a secret cameo as Ripley’s dad, the commander of a starship, in “Alien : Covenant”. His role sounds similar to the one Chris Hemsworth played in the first of the “Star Trek” reboot movies.

Here’s the dirt from AvPGalaxy : “Franco will be appearing in Alien: Covenant as Branson, the captain of the Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterson’s Daniels. Franco’s appearance in Alien: Covenant will only be brief, though. He appears in the first ten minutes or so of the film with later small appearances. Franco will also be reprising the role as Branson in some of the viral footage that has been shot for Alien: Covenant.”

If true, the movie reunites Franco with his “Pineapple Express” and “This is the End” co-star Danny McBride, who plays the pilot of the ship at the center of the movie.

“Alien Covenant”, also starring Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup, busts out of the cinematic belly next May.

*Or Twentieth Century Fox simply insisted on a name, regardless of mien or believability in said part, and it was Franco who answered the call. Franco is, after all, a regular ‘Fox’ boy having appeared in everything from their “Planet of the Apes” franchise to “127 Hours” and in recent times, “Why Him?”.
