Exclusive : Meet the Paranormal Activity 5 family

While the Marked Ones continue to, er, remain marked, Paramount readies the next traditional sequel in the “Paranormal Activity” series. As far as the bean-counters are concerned, one of the joys of the series is that each installment is shot on spare change (in fact, the marketing budget on each one is presumably considering higher than each film’s production costs) but it’s production phase barely takes up one screen of a Google calendar – they’re cast, shot and released that quick!

While one of these big superhero flicks can take months to cast, something like “Paranormal Activity 5” – due in October – takes mere weeks to choose it’s headline players.

As we speak, the studio and director Gregory Plotkin are rushing to slot a cast in for the fourth sequel to Oren Peli’s indy smash.
While it’s likely we’ll be seeing ‘Katie’ again – series star Katie Featherston – being that we’ve been promised more info on what her and baby Tobey are getting up to, “Paranormal Activity 5” will largely feature new characters. Those parts are currently being filled.

So who will be be rooting for come October?

Ryan, Emily, their 6-year-old daughter Leila, and Mike, Ryan’s younger brother (essentially a less fitter, less funkier version of his brother) essetially.

Ryan, 26-31, is described as a ‘big kid’, he’s a video-game designer who has relocated his family from New York to Pala Alto for a cushy gig at Rockstar Games.

Though somewhat of a hippie (she’s into organic food, loves the arts and music, won’t let her daughter eat Gluten, and sports tattoos), Wife Emily is considerably more serious than her young husband – she’s constantly on the go, does Yoga, and though loving, has an air of maturity about her. Her sister died a year before.

Their daughter Leila seems to be a mixture of both – a bit of a fearless, opinionated tomboy.

And it goes without saying, Ryan and Emily’s family quickly realizes something is not OK within their new house.

“Paranormal Activity 5” will shoot in February in Los Angeles.
