Exclusive : Twilight won’t end with Breaking Dawn Part 2

Chortle they did when Bloody Disgusting reported a few months back that Lionsgate/Summit would be rebooting the still-fresh “Twilight” saga, and making it happen as soon as this latest and last installment (“The Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn Part 2”) had been shipped to theaters.

Silly, in fact, that they did laugh. But no doubt the cheeky coughs came from those who aren’t aware how Hollywood works these days – when it’s all about the brand, or in this case a cash-cow franchise, one doesn’t do like Sly Stallone at the start of “Cliffhanger” and let go, nope, they hang onto it with dear life.

Why put down a perfectly good stable star horse when it’s still winning all the races for you?

When I was informed an hour or so back that “They’re already onto the [Breaking Dawn] follow-up”, I wasn’t surprised, but naturally intrigued.

Details are skim but apparently Bloody Disgusting’s earlier sources that some sort of ‘reboot’ of the series was in development, were on the money. My contact tells me that they’ve heard everything from a “TV show or film spin-off, merely set in the same world as the one in the movies but not featuring the main trio, is being seriously considered” with “The Wolf Pack, one area of interest”.

And talk has, not at all surprisingly, increased as “Breaking Dawn Part 2” inches towards it’s release date, and more so, already looks to break box-office records.

So “Twilight” isn’t over, Bella’s song is just fading out. Seems the tale of the tyro vamp mama, Jacob, Edward and an unjustly fired Rachel Lefevre was just the beginning.
