First Look at The Avengers

I’m starting to wonder if Marvel cares about how their marketing promo works when it comes to releasing promo art for their films. The pics they released in EW for “The Amazing Spider-Man” was awesome and all, but let’s not forget their promo posters for “X-Men: First Class” which featured silhouettes of their characters and floating heads in the silhouette’s crotches for one. That was just weird.

Within 5 minutes of first coming across the latest EW cover, everyone’s pretty much said it all over the Internet–what the hell is up with the cover? It’s practically Photoshop 101 and if they were going to do something like that, heck, they could’ve called me to do the job. I’m no expert on it, but I’m not totally terrible at it either.

Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo all look weird as hell on the bottom row there and seeing Scarlett Johansson in the middle between Robert Downey Jr & Chris Hemsworth just looks really stupid. Here’s hoping if they do one huge cast banner, it looks better in the future.

As for a snippet, here’s what Renner said to the mag:

“Just because they’re super heroes doesn’t mean they’re super friends,” says Renner.

Superhero cheesiness at it’s best. And Downey Jr. had this to say….

When he wasn’t out dancing, Whedon was obsessively rewriting dialogue. On the Iron Man movies, Downey was notorious for pushing for heat-of-the-moment script punch-ups (or as he puts it: “I dominated like a rabid, horny gorilla”).

“The Avengers” will hit theaters on May 4, 2012.
