Former Ramsay Street resident may lead Terminator

Australia’s Margot Robbie is reportedly in contention to play the Sarah Connor role in director Alan Taylor’s upcoming “Terminator”.

The movie, which will bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger’s unaged (heh) cyborg, is due in theaters in 2015.

Should she get the gig, 23 year-old Robbie would reprise the role made famous by Linda Hamilton in 1984’s “Terminator” and “Terminator 2 : Judgment Day”.

According to SchmoesKnow, ex-“Neighbours” and “Wolf of Wall Street” star Robbie is battling some credible competition for the role of future resistance leader John Connor’s mother in the movie. Brie Larson, of “21 Jump Street”, and “Game of Thrones” Emilia Clarke are also said to be in the mix.

John Connor, who has been played by umpteen different actors in the various “Terminator” movies and TV series, will also wear a new face for the fifth “Terminator”. Said to be up for the role of Sarah’s boy are “TRON Legacy” star Garrett Hedlund, and Boyd Holbrook, currently filming David Fincher’s “Gone Girl”.

One rumoured storyline doing the rounds for the movie involves John Connor traveling back in time to meet up with the younger incarnation of his own mother. Another rumour says the film would be set in the ’50s.

The only sure thing at this stage is that Schwarzenegger ‘will be back’ for the movie.

If she doesn’t get the gig, there’ll be enough Margot Robbie to go around in future days anyway. She’s got a couple of big movies in the can, and is currently filming “Focus” with Will Smith (who she might also be involved with, if the tabloids are to be believed) – a movie once reserved for Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart.
