Netflix has officially given its long-rumoured “Full House” sequel the green light.
Titled “Fuller House”, the show will centre on D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), who is a recently widowed and pregnant veterinarian. Her younger sister and aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and her childhood best friend, Kimmy Gibbler, (Andrea Barber), along with Gibbler’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, move in to help D.J. raise her two sons — rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and soon-to-arrive baby.
John Stamos, who broke the news on“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, is also set to return as a producer and guest star, reprising his role as Jesse Katsopolis.
“It starts as a reunion and then spins off into… a spin off,” Stamos said.
As for the show’s other stars, including Bob Saget, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin, negotiations are “ongoing”.
“As big fans of the original ‘Full House,’ we are thrilled to be able to introduce ‘Fuller House’s’ new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication,” said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, in a statement.
Netflix will premiere the 13-ep revival series in 2016.
