Furious 8 is en route to New York

Vin Diesel has revealed that the next “Fast and Furious” installment will be set in New York.

“New York, baby!” Diesel told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when asked where the film would be set. “Something that people don’t know is the first movie came from a Vibe article that was about street racers in New York, and, the director and producer at the time reset the whole movie in LA, but the Vibe article that the whole franchise was started from actually originated in New York.

“So we’re finally bringing it back home, baby!”

Diesel announced “Furious 8” at this year’s CinemaCon (to no surprise following the huge $1.511 billion haul that the seventh film took at the worldwide box office) and recently revealed the director of the project would be “Straight Outta Compton” helmer F. Gary Gray.

“Furious 8” will be the first film in a new trilogy that is set to round out the franchise and will open on April 14, 2017.
