Game of Thrones fifth season to air worldwide simultaneously

Just because there’s not enough hype surrounding “Game of Thrones” as it is, HBO is going to air the new season of the hit show in over 170 countries and territories across the globe simultaneously.

Yep, those of us in Aus will get the 10-eps of the fifth season at exactly the same time as those in the US, the UK, Europe, Canada, Africa, Asia and pretty much everywhere else you can think of.

But don’t get too excited just yet. The show will premiere at 9pm on April 12 in the US which means that for us Aussies, it will air at 11am AEST Monday April 13 – not exactly an ideal viewing time. And I can imagine some midnight viewings will be taking place across the globe also.

So, each week for 10 weeks, we can expect a global “Game of Thrones” TV event. Cue more broken records.
