Gordon-Levitt is The Frog King

As opposed to ‘The Fisher King’

Rising star Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Brick”, “The Lookout”) will star in producer Darren Star’s directorial debut “The Frog King”, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In “King,” produced by Intermedia and GreeneStreet Films and written by Bret Easton Ellis, Gordon-Levitt plays a ne’er-do-well assistant editor whose penchant for messing up threatens a relationship with his dream girlfriend.

The project comes from the new Intermedia-backed sales and distribution outfit IM Global.

IM Global’s new name (announced two weeks after its founding) alludes to Intermedia’s involvement, but the outfit will be run as a separate company by Ford and several other former First Look International executives. The company will sell a host of big-budget projects from Intermedia Films and a selection of international titles from Ford’s former company.

Other projects IM Global is selling include two Constellation Films projects, Agnieszka Vosloo’s thriller “After.Life,” with Kate Bosworth attached, and Jodie Markell’s “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond,” written by Tennessee Williams and featuring a veteran ensemble cast, as well as Simon Crane’s hired assassin thriller “The Killer’s Game,” written by Simon Kinberg and produced by Intermedia and Mad Chance Prods.
